War in Ukraine: anti-war protest to be held at the end of March in Brussels

Belgian organisations are encouraging people to take to the streets in a national protest to criticise Russia’s war on Ukraine, reported Belga News Agency.

"Denounce the horror of war. Join us in calling for a ceasefire and de-escalation," urged The National Center for Cooperation and Development.

The organisations are calling on Russia to remove its troops from Ukrainian soil and promote an “active peace diplomacy.” They are also underlining how important it is to support Ukrainian refugees and are calling for a Europe without nuclear weapons.

The Belgian coalition against nuclear weapons, the FGTB/ABVV, the CSC/ACV, FOS-socialist solidarity, the Flemish association against racism 'Hand in Hand tegen racisme' are set to attend the demonstration.

Citizens across Europe have rallied around Ukraine to protest against the war. Up to 30,000 people demonstrated in Berlin on 13 March and in Brussels, protests were held near Russia's permanent representation at the end of February and in March.

The next demonstration in Brussels will take place on 27 March at Brussels North Station from 13:00.
