Tesla’s deliveries have increased by 68% in one year, moving from 184,800 electric cars in the first quarter of 2021 to 310,048 in the corresponding period of this year, Belga News Agency reports.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said this result was achieved despite supply issues and company closures. “This was an exceptionally difficult quarter due to supply chain interruptions and China’s zero Covid policy,” he tweeted. “Outstanding work by Tesla team and key suppliers saved the day.”
The US company said on Saturday that it sold 295,324 of its Model 3 and Model Y cars, and 14,724 of its Model S and Model X vehicles.
Its production figures showed a similar increase: 305,407 vehicles assembled in the first three months of this year, as against 180,338 in the first quarter of 2021.
Tesla’s first quarter financial results are to be published on 20 April.
